Making Meadville

Local photographer Kelly Rhoades has embarked on a passion project, featuring the visual stories of the people who are making Meadville. Each week she tells a new story through photographs as part of a segment she calls Meeting Meadville which she posts on her Facebook page, Kelly Rhoades Photography. Thus far, Kelly has introduced followers to over 27 Meadville businesses and owners, generating a wealth of positivity in the community.

In this segment, Kelly interviews Stephani Consla, owner of Grammy Stephie’s Bakery located at 813 Water Street here in Meadville. If you have not been, you are missing a real treat (literally)!

Meeting Meadville with Kelly Rhoades

Stephani Consla made time to meet with me during what is arguably her busiest time of the year. She is the “Grammy” of Grammy Stephie’s Bakery on Water Street. She welcomed me into her cozy space and showed me around her bakery. I was able to see an array of beautiful treats that were tempting me during my visit. Although she is probably best known for her lovely cookie designs, she offers a wide variety to make any sweet tooth happy.

Tell us a little about your business!

“We are a from scratch bakery that mostly specializes in cookies but we also do many other sweet treats including but not limited to cupcakes, cakes, cheesecakes and brownies. We also have multiple breakfast items like scones, cinnamon rolls, muffins, croissants and our French toast bake that is made from our English Muffin bread that we offer most days. We would love to expand into more items like bagels and more bread options.”

What inspired you to start your business?

“I grew up baking with both of my grandmothers and enjoy sharing my love of baking with my own grandchildren.”

What is something that makes your business unique?

“All of our baked goods are made from scratch everyday.”

In your opinion, what is the best thing about Meadville?

“All of the small businesses that are available and they way they support each other.”

Which Meadville business, aside from your own, is your favorite?

“Hunter’s Inn is definitely one of my favorites but there are so many great small businesses in Meadville.”

Be sure to pop in for a sweet treat and tell Grammy I said “Hi”!
