Community Corner Stories: The People Who Make Meadville

Making Meadville

Meadville is more than just a destination or physical place. It’s a collection of people who chose to make something here—business owners who open their doors every morning, neighbors who know each other by name, and families who’ve called Crawford County home for generations. And each one of these people have stories.

This year, students from Allegheny College’s Brand Storytelling class partnered with Jen Murphy, owner of Tattered Corners New & Used Bookstore, to capture what makes Meadville tick. Through a project called Community Corner Stories, they sat down with local business owners, longtime residents, and the people who keep this community running—and they listened. They asked about life paths, about what it means to start a business on Chestnut Street, about why someone stays, why someone comes back, and what turns a place into a home.

The result? A growing collection of real stories from real people, told with care and curiosity by the next generation of Meadville’s supporters. It’s college students learning firsthand that the best marketing doesn’t start with a pitch—it starts with a conversation. It’s a local bookstore owner who believes her neighbors’ stories deserve a wider audience. And it’s Meadville residents getting the spotlight they’ve earned just by showing up for this community, day after day.

We’re proud to share this collaboration between Allegheny College, Tattered Corners, and the people who make Meadville worth writing about. Head over and get to know your neighbors a little better.
