We are thrilled to be one more step closer to submitting our application for Main Street designation to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development with help from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center. This week’s community open house where we shared the transformative strategies guiding our plans for Meadville was very well attended by residents, community leaders, downtown business owners, several major employers, and elected officials to include members of Meadville City Council and Senator Michele Brooks.
Thank you to Meadville’s Director of Community Development Renna Wrubleski, Jason Ruggiero and Peyton Jackson from Spark Community Capital, LLC and Bull Moose Marketing for their help in explaining the 4 strategies to attendees. These strategies include:
- Downtown Meadville will be a place that creates opportunities for everyone to live, work and thrive.
- Downtown Meadville will reimagine its first impression on residents and visitors alike.
- Downtown Meadville will be recognized as the region’s center of arts, culture, recreation, and entertainment.
- MCRC will bolster the downtown residential and commercial real estate market.
Special thank you to Hatch Hollow for hosting us and the event and to Grammy Stephie’s Bakery and The Whole Darn Thing Sub Shop-Meadville PA for providing cookies and subs.

A Main Street designation for Meadville is crucial because it provides targeted funding, specialized resources, and strategic planning through the PA Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) to revitalize our downtown, support small businesses, and enhance economic growth. It also helps communities improve aesthetics, increase safety, create jobs, boost property values, and reduce urban sprawl by maximizing existing infrastructure.
