Making Meadville

Photographer Kelly Rhoades is telling the story of Meadville one business at a time. Through her weekly Facebook feature, Meeting Meadville, published on her page, Kelly Rhoades Photography, she pairs interviews with striking photography to showcase the people behind local storefronts. So far, the series has featured a multitude Meadville business owners, generating an outpouring of community support and encouragement.

This weeks spotlight features the owner of Ooh La La Consignment Boutique located at 900 Water Street Meadville.

Meeting Meadville with Kelly Rhoades

Today’s episode of Meeting Meadville features the ever-changing, but always lovely, Ooh La La Consignment Boutique , located right in our downtown mall! I am now stranger to Ooh La La, so I was excited when they expressed an interest in this project. Laura was kind enough to take time out of her incredibly hectic schedule to meet with me. The staff at this boutique is just wonderful! They are so friendly and helpful. If there is something you’re looking for, they would be more than happy to help you find that item. In addition to have a great selection of gently-used clothing and accessories, it’s also the perfect place to find a new home for those pieces you just no longer wear. Check out my interview with Laura, and be sure to stop in and tell them I sent you!

Tell us a little about your business!

“[We are a] New and Consigned Clothing, Shoes, Jewelry and Accessories for Teens to Senior Ladies”

What inspired you to start your business?

“A close friend, Stephanie Miller founded the store, I worked for her PT for 7 years and she shared everything she knew about consignment. When she made the decision to focus on her artistic talent she offered to sell the store to me . The store opened in 2012!”

What is something that makes your business unique?

“We are consignment not thrift. Sales benefit the success of the store but they also benefit those who own the items that are put out on the sales floor.”

In your opinion, what is the best thing about Meadville?

“The loyal customer base that continues to support small business”

Which Meadville business, aside from your own, is your favorite?

“I have many, The Salty Spa Meadville , Mannino’s, Pizza Villa, Academy Theatre , The Kilted Kiln , Cup n’ Spoon …there’s so many great small businesses in the Meadville community!”
