Timber Frame Project – Call for Volunteers 960 Park Ave Parklet Meadville PA

Placemaking

The Meadville Community Revitalization Corporation (MCRC) is partnering with David Yasenchack, a local member of the Timber Framer’s Guild (TFG), to construct a timber framed shelter for the 960 Park Ave Parklet in downtown Meadville. The Parklet project is a collaboration of MCRC and The Meadville Redevelopment Authority.

The timber frame project is being implemented through TFG’s 40 x 40 initiative in celebration of their 40th anniversary. Fourty TFG members will each design and lead one local project resulting in a hand-crafted timber structure in their home community (hence 40 frames for 40 years). Interested in helping us? MCRC and RDA are seeking 8 – 10 volunteers with a range of experience to help build and raise this unique, hand-crafted shelter. Volunteers are asked to commit to 4 of the 6 work days (9:00 – 5:00) if possible. Work days are planned for September 12 (F), 13 (Sa), 14 (Sun) and 26 (F), 27 (S), 28 (Sun) and will take place at a workshop near Cambridge Springs. Lunch will be provided. Participants will learn about and perform hands-on timber frame layout, cutting, and raising under David’s direction.
