Meadville Community Revitalization Corporation Produces Parody Video To Promote Shopping In The City’s Business District
MEADVILLE, PA – Downtown Meadville has taken center stage in a charming holiday video that’s quickly winning hearts across social media. “A Meadville Mistletoe Miracle: A Holiday Shopping Love Story,” produced by the Meadville Community Revitalization Corporation (MCRC), has captured more than 15,000 views in its first 24 hours online.
The four-minute production showcases downtown Meadville’s vibrant business district through the lens of a romantic holiday tale. Paying homage to beloved Hallmark holiday movies, the story follows a returning pop star who unexpectedly reconnects with an old classmate, leading viewers on a tour of the city’s diverse shopping and dining destinations.
“The business community reached out asking for ideas to help promote our downtown,” explained MCRC Executive Director Andy Walker who also co-stars in the video. “The video went from a concept in a bunch of text messages on a Thursday afternoon to shooting and a finished product by the end of that Sunday. This was a fun and creative way for the MCRC to carry out its mission of fostering economic development in greater Downtown Meadville.”
The project exemplifies the strong community spirit that defines Meadville, bringing together the MCRC, City of Meadville, and the Meadville Independent Business Alliance (MIBA) in a unique collaboration with local agency, Bull Moose Marketing providing creative direction and management of the video’s digital distribution strategy.
City Community Development Director Renna Wrubleski, who co-directed the video with Corrina Del Greco, praised the community’s enthusiasm: “As soon as we had the idea, everyone jumped in and we were ready to go Saturday morning. It really shows how much people love this town.”
Despite initial technical challenges with audio that required reshooting most scenes, local videographer Sophia Bakken’s expertise helped transform the setback into an advantage, resulting in an even higher quality production. The video also features musical parody elements performed by its other co-star Ashley Mattocks-Rose of Gin and Sonic Productions.
